This particular piece is inspired by a Ghanaian folklore about a barren woman called Akua who cried to the gods for a child till they curved a wooden doll for her. After taking care of the doll judiciously, it become a real child hence the ‘Akuaba’ to mean Akua’s child.  Beautifully painted on a light white fabric, this piece is a perfect denotation of fertility, life and family for the Ghanaian culture. Put on those classes heels and you have a cocktail dress that doubles as a beach cover up.
